But he bestows a greater grace; therefore, it says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself; so you will find favor in the sight of the Lord (Sirach 3:18). For the Lord of all shows no partiality, nor does he fear greatness, because he himself made the great as well as the small, and he provides for all alike (Wisdom 6:7). He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way (Psalm 25:9).
"Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:11-12).
